This type of treatment has been chosen as a compromise solution because the patient flat-out refused from the full orthodontic treatment.
The first stage was the placement of the dental implant in position 36 of the tooth with a closed sinus augmentation (sinus lift). Generally, sinus augmentation is performed when the floor of the sinus is too close to an area where the dental implant is going to be placed.
Six months after the implant placement, the opening of the implant with gingival augmentation and installation of a temporary crown were conducted.
The next stage was the distalization of tooth 37 (using a modified Petrov-Davidyan device). The distalization lasted 6 weeks and the spring was activated for distalization every 2 weeks.
The final stage was the fixation of a permanent crown.
